Cornelius has extensive stud-farm experience. He started out with Stephen de Wet at Excelsior Stud when Dancing Champ was a prominent sire. He moved to Oaklands and worked under Godfrey Gird for 16 years, handling important sires such as New South Wales and Del Sarto. Cornelius has been an invaluable part of the Riethuiskraal team since its inception. He has fond memories of his early association with Gr.1 Summer Cup winner Flirtation, a favourite among the many top class horses that have been raised under his care.
